EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY

Our equality and diversity offer is based on our experience in the Education sector. In 2003, Managing Director of Megamorphose, Marcia Granger won an award from the Learning and Skills Council based on her Pan-London project “BME staff into FE Management” which led to 10 out of 12 BME staff who participated on the programme to gain promotion to Senior management positions in the sector.

We have conducted research in this field for a number of organisations including UK Skills, the Centre for Excellence in Leadership (now QIA), and BTEG. Our most recently published research, in July 2008, examined the role of partnerships between mainstream schools and supplementary schools in the UK. The report entitled “Effective partnerships between mainstream schools and supplementary schools” is available to the public. For a copy, please contact us.

During the last ten years the public education sector has been under the spotlight as never before. It has been a period of continuous and major change presenting enormous challenges for education authorities and schools alike.  Two major current initiatives epitomise the scale of this ambition: the 'Every Child Matters' agenda and Building Schools for the Future.

The school improvement agenda underpins all education policy and everyone working in the education arena is affected by it.

Educational provision for 14-19 year olds is the subject of a major government review. It is intended to tackle the lack of progression in secondary schools and improve staying-on rates after 16. Key themes include the provision of better vocational options to create a more highly skilled and better off workforce. This ties in with the government's desire to move towards a 'knowledge economy': one based on high skill, higher value work leading to economic regeneration and less deprivation through low wages and the creation of new “diplomas.”(See Future Changes – The White paper)

But how does all of this affect the operational side of education: teaching and learning? Our concern about the delivery and quality of education and how it affects student achievement, has led us to develop a workshop as part of our research for one of our education partners – Westminster Centre for Excellence in teacher training.

Our current workshop is “Differentiation through Diversity for Teachers”
